Adjacent to the Jefferson Laboratory particle physics complex in Newport News lies a parcel of land known as the Tech Center Research Park at Oyster Point. Presenting a unique opportunity for economic development, this acreage is well-suited for mixed-use development, integrated around a high tech office park, including an expansion of the continuous use electronic particle physics complex, new apartment homes, and a 260,000 square foot shopping and dining space.
Working with long-standing partner, W.M. Jordan, our team developed the comprehensive master plan for the Tech Center Research Park. With a site layout designed to establish an urban setting and create a sense of community, it includes a corporate research center with 1,265,000 square feet of office space and a park with areas for outdoor collaboration and afternoon workouts.
The first building in the Tech Center will be a 100,000 square foot state-of-the-art research facility. The building is designed to be the go-to place for incubating entrepreneurial enterprises, small business, and corporate spin-offs. Temporary surface parking will be provided until a parking structure is constructed in conjunction with the third building.
