Through Clark Nexsen’s Annual Services Contract with Parks & Recreation, we provided design services that included upgrades and improvements to the Princess Anne Athletic Complex. The complex is a major destination for both local and travel teams that compete in sports including football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey. In order to provide a true tournament quality facility, the Clark Nexsen team executed a design that included converting 4 of the turf fields to a synthetic playing surface. Clark Nexsen also provided the design of new lighting for the fields, electronic scoreboards, and parking areas for approximately 330 cars, the upgrading the existing maintenance facility access drive up to Landstown Road, and expansion of the existing maintenance building and related parking, materials storage, and dumpster areas.

Based on the increased impervious surface added as a result of the project, an extensive analysis of this drainage-sensitive watershed was performed to ensure no detrimental impacts would be experienced during rainfall events. Ultimately a stormwater retention pond was added to the project to attenuate post-developed storm runoff back to pre-developed levels.

Clark Nexsen’s full-discipline team of Landscape Architects, Planners, Architects, and Engineers collaborated throughout the planning, design, and bidding processes to ensure all aspects of this seemingly simple yet truly complex project were properly addressed.
