The Bluford Street Residence Hall is a 136,000 SF, 405-bed hall near the oldest part of the nation’s largest historically Black university, North Carolina A&T State University. The 16th residence hall on campus, the four-story building includes a modern skin and interior finishes designed to blend into the fabric of the existing campus. It will have an interior courtyard, common areas for students to gather, a student hub and game room area, and a ground-floor retail space.NC A&T’s first development in Precinct F of the campus master plan, the new residence hall will accommodate the steady growth of the university. Of NC A&T’s 3,900 residence hall beds on campus, nearly all are claimed. In addition to meeting the growing demand for on-campus housing, Bluford Street Residence Hall signals the university’s goal of developing land purchased in the neighborhood adjacent to the campus.
Bluford Street Residence Hall will be built on the hill along Bluford Street across from Harrison Auditorium, which dates back to 1939 and will provide great views toward the Deese Clock Tower. The south end of the hall will be next to A&T’s National Historic District, and to its north will be the World War Memorial Stadium, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
