Hofheimer Hall at EVMS Receives 2020 IDEAs Honorable Mention Award
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Virginia and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Virginia/West Virginia recently announced the winners of the 2020 Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEAs) Competition, recognizing Clark Nexsen with a design award. Hofheimer Hall at Eastern Virginia Medical School received Honorable Mention in the Healthcare Over 15,000 SF category.
IDEAs award submissions were judged on their success and creative response in meeting client objectives, as well as effectiveness and innovation of color composition, lighting, project scale and proportion, and materiality.
Driven by the desire to create a more modern, functional space, the interior renovation of Hofheimer Hall on the EVMS campus consolidated and expanded the Department of Medicine on the fourth and fifth floors by combining the individual Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease wings into one larger clinic. A spatially conscious design model was developed as an intentional departure from the typical aesthetics of a healthcare facility. The new facility features an adaptable, accommodating, “patient first” layout that maximizes workflow efficiency and improves environmental comfort and quality.
Co-hosted by ASID Virginia and IIDA Virginia/West Virginia chapter, the official award ceremony was held virtually and presented by Allison Usry, Business Development Manager at Haworth. See a complete list of winners here.
