Clark Nexsen Raises Over $11,000 for Relay For Life
The Clark Nexsen Virginia Beach office has raised $11,371 for The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of South Hampton Roads.
“Our office is once again proud to support those who have or are battling cancer,” said Alicia Shepard, Project Coordinator and Clark Nexsen team captain. “So many of us know someone affected by this terrible disease, including one of our own colleagues, which makes it incredibly heartwarming that we support Relay For Life every year.”
Relay For Life is a volunteer-led event held in communities across the country that celebrates cancer survivors, remembers those lost to cancer, and raises money to help those battling cancer. This year’s event featured 113 local teams and raised over $316,000, which will go towards cancer research and support services. In addition to being a Platinum sponsor for the event, Clark Nexsen’s team finished ninth in total fundraising.
“Clark Nexsen supports The American Cancer Society locally and firmwide,” said Connie LaCross, Project Coordinator and Clark Nexsen team captain. “I’m so happy that the firm and my fellow colleagues have supported an organization that means so much to me.”
This year, the fundraising team chose ‘Cookin’ Up a Cure’ as their theme. To help raise funds, Virginia Beach office staff provided recipes for a cookbook that was designed and created in-house. The cookbook was sold in the office and during the Relay For Life event.
“It was amazing to see so many people across the office pitch in and help with this effort,” said Allison Rogers, Architectural Designer and Clark Nexsen team captain. “From designing our cookbook, setting up our team booth, to tracking donations, this was a true team effort across our entire Virginia Beach office, led by the Clark Nexsen Community Collective.”
The Clark Nexsen Community Collective is an employee-led group within each of the firm’s offices. These groups organize and lead volunteer, fundraising, and community service efforts, helping expand and impact the company’s efforts locally.
