Clark Nexsen Foundation Commits $4,500 to LGBTQ+ Organizations

The Clark Nexsen Foundation is excited to announce that it has committed a total of $4,500 to LGBTQ+ organizations. Made in partnership with the firm’s Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) group, each of Clark Nexsen’s nine offices were provided with $500 to give to a local non-profit.

“At Clark Nexsen, our commitment to supporting local pride organizations strengthens our connections within the community and showcases our dedication to inclusivity and diversity,” said Anna Traylor, AIA, WELL AP, Senior Architect. “By investing in these organizations, we cultivate a positive atmosphere for our employees and our communities.”

The first Pride Month campaign for Clark Nexsen sparked enthusiasm for the initiative and resulted in some offices having multiple entries. These offices evenly split their $500 allocation amongst their chosen non-profits. The organizations that will receive a contribution are as follows: Blue Ridge Pride and Campaign for Southern Equality, Asheville, NC; Time Out Youth, Charlotte, NC; TriPride, Johnson City, TN; Macon Pride, Macon, GA; Equality North Carolina, and LGBT Center of Raleigh; Side by Side, Richmond, VA; Youth SAGA of Roanoke, Roanoke, VA; Safe Space NOVA, Vienna, VA; and LGBT Life Center, Virginia Beach, VA.

“This new campaign was completely employee led, which speaks volumes about our people,” said Jennifer Heintz, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Architect, Principal, and Clark Nexsen Foundation Board Member. “The response to this campaign has been tremendous, with some of our offices nominating multiple organizations for this effort. We are excited to extend our impact to all within our communities and make a difference.”

First recognized in 1999 in the United States, Pride Month recognizes and celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) community. In the U.S., Pride Month coincides with the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, which served as a major catalyst for the LGBTQ civil rights movement.
