Clark Nexsen Board Unveils New Leadership Advisory Council

This summer, the Clark Nexsen Board of Directors announced the creation of a new group, the Leadership Advisory Council (LAC), that will bring together leaders within the firm who will advise senior leadership on issues facing the company, engage in professional and civic engagement opportunities, find ways to serve the firm’s people, clients, and communities, and help Clark Nexsen navigate the ever-changing marketplace of the AEC industry.

“The board of directors is extraordinarily excited about the creation of the Leadership Advisory Council,” said Chad Roberson, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Managing Principal, and Board of Directors member. “Comprised of some of the brightest and most talented individuals at Clark Nexsen, this group will provide us with valuable insights and ideas that will impact policy, projects, and the adoption of new technologies.”

The diverse group, which has over 170 years of combined industry experience, consists of backgrounds ranging from engineering to sustainability. Acting as an advisory group to the Board of Directors, the LAC will assist the company and senior leadership in tackling issues such as staffing, branding, and artificial intelligence. The council will also serve as a platform for the current generation of leaders to work together, allowing members to build their leadership skills and connect with other market sectors and backgrounds at the firm. Additionally, the council’s direct proximity to employees and projects will allow the group to communicate issues to leadership from a grassroots level, providing an even bigger voice for employees at Clark Nexsen.

“As with so many things in our daily lives, communication is key to productive and effective ways of making progress,” said Becky Brady, AIA, ALEP, CDT, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Architect, and Leadership Advisory Council member. “The LAC will open more lines of communication that will allow employees to be heard in new ways, offering a platform that hasn’t been available previously.”

The LAC will be a six-to-eight-member group consisting of Clark Nexsen employees. Participation in the council is open to all members of the firm, with nominations made by individuals who are company shareholders. Half the council will serve a three-year term, while the other half will serve a two-year term, allowing for a progressive transition for new members. Once this transition is complete, all subsequent terms will last two years.

The first Leadership Advisory Council will be comprised of the following eight members: Becky Brady, AIA, ALEP, CDT, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Architect; Xander Ellenbogen, AIA, LEED AP, Architect; Wes Parker, PE, PTOE, Infrastructure Market Leader; Shann Rushing, AIA, LEED AP, Senior Architect; Dorothea Schulz, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Architect; Brian Turner, PE, CEM, LEED AP BD+C, Building Science Practice Leader; Wade Williams, PE, HFDP, BCS, RCx, LEEP AP BD+C, Department Head – Mechanical; Waleed Zoabi, PE, Senior Electrical Engineer.
