Clark Nexsen Announces Promotions

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Brian Dautel, Sara Melanson, Wes Parker, and Brian Turner to Principal and Steve Lowe and Angie Ritter to Associate Principal. Clark Nexsen has recognized each individual’s contributions, which has helped us continue to grow as a leading architecture and engineering firm. 


Promoted to Principal 

Brian Dautel, AIA, LEED AP BD+C

Brian is a leader at Clark Nexsen with over 20 years of experience. He has led several complex projects, such as the UVA Brandon Avenue Upperclass Housing and the MUSC College of Health Professions building, and is currently leading multiple projects in Raleigh, Asheville, and Virginia Beach. Brian is also a sought-after speaker and has held leadership positions in professional and community organizations, recently serving on the Raleigh City Planning Board. 

Sara Melanson, AIA, LEED AP

Sara is a senior architect who has contributed to the firm’s success for almost 20 years. She is a leader in our Asheville office, a critical member of the Education Market sector team, and has displayed an extraordinarily high level of design excellence. She also played a crucial role in the Visioning process for Clark Nexsen as a leader in the People workgroup for the Strategic Plan. 

Wes Parker, PE, PTOE

Wes is a Clark Nexsen veteran of over ten years and is the Infrastructure leader with the Clark Nexsen Project Management Practice. He has been instrumental in communicating the firm’s goals and expectations for effective project management. He has shined in all aspects of project and financial management and has proven adept in engineering, project management, and client staff augmentation roles. 

Brian Turner, PE, CEM, LEED AP BD+C

Brian joined Clark Nexsen as a mechanical engineer 15 years ago and now leads the Building Science Practice. He has contributed significantly to the company’s success and is a sought-after expert in his field. Brian is a great communicator and has developed new contacts with potential clients while maintaining current relationships. He values a collaborative team environment and has shown clients the value of his approach and contributions to the success of their projects.   


Promoted to Associate Principal 

Steve Lowe, PE, CEM

Steve is a mechanical engineer who joined Clark Nexsen in 2016. As the department head for our Virginia Beach mechanical team, Steve has provided steady leadership and a high level of morale within the group. His extensive experience and credentials mean he is often the first call for clients and colleagues looking to provide solutions. Steve’s work and thought leadership have contributed to multiple award-winning projects, including Ferguson Headquarters 3. 

Angie Ritter, AIA

Angie has been with Clark Nexsen for over 23 years and is currently a senior architect in our Charlotte office. She is the Project Architect for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg New Main Library and specializes in higher education, K-12, and commercial clients. Known for her attention to detail, Angie consistently delivers high quality design solutions and serves as a valuable mentor to younger designers.
